Must Love... Lady Marmalade Cafe

Stones Corner is a suburb of un-tapped potential. Less than a ten minute drive from the City and it's proximity to Woolloongabba (cute cafes, chic restaurants and abundance of vintage stores), means the location is spot on. The main drag is a double sided stretch of small empty spaces just crying out for new coffee spots and funky boutiques to take them over. Alas, the few and far between current residents are clothing stores with cheap party dresses and kebab shops.

But on the corner of Logan Road and Cleveland Street is something different, a cafe with amazing gourmet sandwiches, cute decor and -the mark of a worthwhile cafe- COFFEE DONE RIGHT. Lady Marmalade is leading by example, showing Stones Corner the way it should be progressing.

It boasts the use of locally sourced ingredients and an all day breakfast menu (something I think should be mandatory amongst cafes). As well as the made-to-order menu, there are deli-like selections of sandwiches and panini's and an array of slices and tarts for the sweet toothed.

The tables are covered in vintage Brisbane newspapers from the 70s and 80s and the "table numbers" are childhood-memory-inducing figurines; ours was a horse, just like one I had when I was little. However, I couldn't help but be jealous of the table next to us, who had the Stegosaurus.

I ordered a "B-Hal-T"; Lady Marmalade's taken on the traditional BLT but with the welcome addition of haloumi. The sandwich was served on a rustic chopping board with a side of herb avocado, and it was delicious!
